The "Hike a Bike" race will be the 1st of 3 races we will be holding this year. The other 2 are the, Monster Mash Supercross race at Walnut Mtn Oct 26 in Liberty, NY. and
The Lippman park Cyclocross race held November 16 at Lippman park.
The course will be about 90% semi-technical single track and double track with a couple of stream crossings.
Onsite registration and check-in will begin at 7:30am and will close at 9:45am.
The race will start promptly at 10am.
The registration fee the day of the event will be $35
The race is limited to the first 100 entries.
There are cyclocross and mountain bike categories.
The Hike a Bike is a combination of obstacles (stream crossings, deadfall and dismounts)on
double track and single track. The addition of dismounts adds to the
variety and challenge of our most popular race.
New this year!
Racers doing the 20+ mile race will race on both state land and in Lippman park.
Both the short course race and the 20+ race will be ONE lap only.
There will be a Le Mans start which will include a 100yd run/sprint before mounting your bikes. During the race racers will have to negotiate a number of obstacles that will require dismounting their bikes. The course will be ready for previewing a couple of days before.
There will be medals given to the top three finishers in each age group and gender ONLY. There will be no beginner, sport, expert or pro categories.
A prize will be given to the person that gets to their bike first at the Le Mans start and
to the person who finishes closest to the middle of the pack. ie. If the fastest time is 2 hours and the slowest is 3 hours the person who has the time closest to 2-1/2 hours will win the grand prize.
There will be a after-race BBQ and awards ceremony at Lippman park following the completion of the race. (approximately 1:30pm)
Directions to Lippman Park:
From NYS Thruway N and S Take exit 18 New Paltz, follow 299 W thru NP about 6 miles. At the intersection of Rt 44/55 make a Right turn and go about 10 miles to the junction of Rt 209. Turn Left and go about 2.5 miles till you see the sign for Lippman Park on your Right.
From Kingston, NY take Rt 209 S and go about 23 miles. Lippman park will be on your Right.
From Rt 17, take Rt 209 N and go about 16 miles. Lippman park will be on your Left.
