About Our Trainer Sessions:
This year will be our forth year of holding the trainer sessions and we’re looking forward to another great set of classes. The enthusiasm of the group would be hard to match and the motivation levels are super high. Each class will be one and a half hours long, including warm-up and cool-down, and led by professional bicycle racer and coach, Brian Lariviere. Over the five weeks, we’ll slowly build your fitness and incorporate cycling specific drills to target weakness and help you improve overall. We welcome beginners and experienced cyclists.
Our participants over the last three years included triathletes, road racers, mountain bikers, time trialists, crit specialists, cyclocross racers, the weekend warrior, and just those looking for a fun way to get fit over the winter. We had both men and women, from mid teens to mid seventies. Yes indeed, mid seventies!
All you need is your bicycle (road bike or mountain bike with slick tire on the rear) and a stationary trainer. It’s helpful, but not necessary, to have a heart rate monitor, cadence equipped bike computer, adjustable resistance trainer, and the ultimate training tool—a power meter. Any of these items can of course be purchased at Cycle Craft to enhance your training experience.
About Coach Brian Lariviere:
Coach Brian Lariviere has been helping cyclists to realize their potential since 2005. Since then, he has worked with athletes from ages 15 to 55, from the weekend warrior to the professional level racer. His athletes have brought home ECCC titles for both men and women in the elite division, New Jersey State Championships and podium finishes, Hudson to Highlands Regional Mountain Bike Series Championships and podium finishes, Mid-Atlantic Super Series Endurance Champions, Silver and Gold Buckle Winners from the Leadville Trail 100, NJ ‘Cross Cup Champions and podiums, NJ ‘Cross State Champions, and scores of other victories and top finishes in various events. But even more important than the athletes finishing on the podium in their competitions is their satisfaction knowing that they have trained properly and are leading an overall healthier and happier life.
