The inaugural Kingdom Cross will be POSTPONED UNTIL OCTOBER 2014.
This "backcountry" Ultra CX event will feature several laps over a non-traditional 8-10 km circuit on singletrack through forest and fields and a few dirt roads, in a remote corner of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Expect several hundred feet of climbing and descending per lap and more distance. Natural log and stream barriers in the orchard near the start/finish add a few cyclocross features to the circuit. This course would be more of a cyclocross bike course than Rasputitsa or Vermont Overland. The trails and Class IV roads are smooth enough for the organizers to believe that cyclocross bikes would be faster over the 40 km distance, although hard tail mountain bikes should work well too..road bikes could ride it
A CX race, as well as an adventure in one of the wilder parts of the Northeast Kingdom. Victory, Vermont is a tiny town with views of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Burke, Umpire and Kirby Mountains in Vermont. The course skirts the edge of some reknowned moose, bear, grouse and wild turkey bird habitat.
Look for updates on Facebook and on the Kingdom Cross page of www.circumburke.org.
PLEASE NOTE: THE KINGDOM CROSS IS NOT THE CIRCUMBURKE. THE CIRCUMBURKE MTB CHALLENGE AND TRAIL RUN IS ON OCTOBER 27th S.
