Due to changes to the mid-Atlantic's 'cross race calendar for 2013 we are postponing the Global 'Cross Relay at this time. We are looking for an a new date for the event in the fall of 2013 and will re-open registration if we find a suitable alternative.
Following High Speed Cycling on Facebook is the best way to get the latest info about our events.
If not, look for a return of the Global Open 'Cross Relay in the fall of 2014.
Thank you for your support and interest in our event. We know this is one of the most fun events out there and can't wait to make it happen again.
We're freakin' doing it.
Been threatening for a while.
Finally made doodoo instead of getting off the pot
The Multi-Friggin-Verse 'Cross Relay
Been doing an MTB version of this thing for 5 years. Every year it is loved like a child's favorite toy. Hugged. Kissed. Thrown in the dirt. Dragged through the grass. Thrown in the wash. Laughed at as it spins around the washing machine window. Ripped. Cried over. Sewn up. Lost. Found. Lost again. Found again. Slobbered all over. Amazing how much that sounds like a 'cross race.
The relay needs a 'cross version.
'Cross needs a version of the relay.
Teams of 2-4 riders
1 Team Cup
Everyone is given a points handicap at the start of the race. We tally the team's handicap points to determine your start value. Each lap is worth points. We add up the points your team earns by completing each lap. Your start points and lap points are added together to determine the winner.
Or I make it up if the math gets too hard.
The handicapping makes it possible for literally any team to win - from the fastest Elites to a crew of four Cat 4s to a team a Jrs - we have no idea who wins until the points are tabulated. What we do know is that everyone always has a kick ass time.
The Champions will take home the Multi-Verse Open Team Cup, a perpetual trophy that will be passed from winning team to winning team each year. It is a big ass cup so it should probably be filled with a beverage and finished off/poured all over some peeps too.
Cash and Merchandise for the top 3 Teams Overall
Costumes are encouraged and we'll give the best team theme a prize.
Fastest Laps will be rewarded.
Heckling is encouraged.
Beering up your race announcers may get you prize too.
Primes if we can figure out who is leading what lap when.
$30/person on your team until Aug 27.
$40/person on your team after Aug 27
$50/person on your team day-of
EVERYONE on the team must use the same TEAM Name. Whatever your Team name is for the day - and this can be whatever you want it to be - it has to be the same for all team members.
Please do not use the same team name as another team. In other words, if there are 4 teams coming from your club please make sure that all four teams have a different name for the event. This can be as simple as adding a "1" "2" or "3" to the end of each team's name or getting all creative and stuff.

Don't Leave Early! Every year at the MTB version some team takes off having no idea they placed since it was a bunch of scrubs and they figured they had no chance against pros. But they kicked the pros' asses. And they don't get the glory of standing over top of them on the podium and pointing and laughing at the sad little pros. Don't let that be you! Course the pros might just kick your asses too.
A bit more on this thing:
This is a killer early season 'cross race disguised as a party disguised as a VO2 interval workout disguised as a way for me to get RICH! Now to figure out a roady version!!! (Cue maniacal laugh) Gonna be some perfect openers for Tacchino on Sunday too.
Past results of the mtb version show this actually works like we planned
(which is sort of amazing since I pulled the whole thing outta my butt)
2007 - VisitPA.com (4 elite men)
2008 - VisitPA.com (4 elite men)
2009 - Whiskey Springs Devo Team (4 beginner Jrs!)
2010 - MudHoneys (3 expert women, 1 sport woman)

Note: remainder of podium filled out with sports, beginners and masters and combos of all in various teams
If you still don't think you can win it or if you are more concerned about drinking some brews than going hard then dress up and get yourselves the costume prize.
Or just drink.
Its a kick ass way to start the season, the short hard lap efforts are superb race training, and its almost too much fun. Almost.
Except for the puking at the end of the lap bit.
