For 2021 the Dirt Road Debutante Gravel Academy will be separated into two different clinics. This one is geared for the intermediate gravel cyclist. The skills ride, topics of discussion and bicycle maintenance and repair sessions will be specific to racing, what to expect, how to be prepared and how to be successful.

Things to bring with you to the clinic:

1. A bike that can be ridden on gravel (mountain bike, cyclocross bike, recreation/fitness bike, gravel bike, etc) It is recommended that you have at least a 38mm tire width, though it is not mandatory.

2. Your bicycle helmet. It must be worn on all outdoor rides.

3. Your bicycle tool kit (if you have one). You will have the opportunity to use/go over these tools during the clinic.

4. Clothing you are comfortable cycling in outside and on a an indoor trainer. The weather in Kansas during March usually starts off cold in the morning. The average temperature range is 33-56 degrees. Be prepared to ride outside, even if it rains. If there is a thunder storm we will ride inside. We have 2 rides planned; one outdoors and one indoor on trainers. There is an optional ride post clinic, Sunday after lunch. This was a big hit last year and we had a blast.

5. A water bottle or two, for the rides.

6. Notebook and pen. We will pass out an itinerary but you may have more notes you would like to take.

7. A heart rate monitor, if you have one. This will be needed for the lactic acid threshold test.*

8. A cadence and speed sensor w/ head unit. Needed for the indoor lactic acid threshold test.*

9. An Indoor trainer and your accompanying adapter. For those that cannot get their trainer here, or do not have one, will provide one to you. Please let me know if you need a trainer and/or adapter for your bike.

7. A positive attitude and a willingness to go on an adventure.

*For those that do not have a heart rate monitor or a speed/cadence sensor we will try to provide you with one to borrow one for the lactic acid threshold test.

All clinic sessions will be held at Santa Fe Trails Bicycle and Coffee Shop in Leavenworth, KS. They will be open for business during the clinic and have offered a special discount to all participants.

There are no refunds, however, if you have paid for the clinic and cannot attend we will transfer your spot the the first on the waiting list. Once we have received their money you will be refunded the full amount minus a $10 processing fee. If there is no one on the waiting list you may transfer your spot to anyone you choose. If no one takes your place we will not refund your money but we will mail you your swag bag after the event.
