Round three of the 2006 Verge New England Championship Cyclo-Cross Series proved a race for the strong, with the Chainbiter 8.0 in Farmington, Conn. going to Davide Frattini (Colavita-Sutter Home) and Mackenzie Dickey (unattached) in the Elite Mens and Womens events, respectively. Frattini snuck off the front of the 40-rider Elite Mens field and held off a late-race surge by Mark McCormack (Clif Bar), who won the sprint for second out a three-rider chase. Always one of the fastest starters on the circuit, Dickey produced a strong race for the duration.
Dickey won her second-ever Verge NECCS race ahead of Amy Wallace (RGM Watches-Richard Sachs-Rex Chiu) with a once again healthy Rebecca Wellons (Gearworks-Spin Arts) rounding out the podium. Matt White (FiordiFrutta) grabbed third in the Elite Mens race.
