Chief Standing Bear Trail is the result of a multiple-year, rails-to-trails project [+more] that converted an abandoned railway line to a crushed limestone path for runners, walkers, and bikers. The trail runs from Beatrice, Nebraska south and east to the Kansas state line and on to Marysville, Kansas in the valley of the Big Blue River. In Nebraska, the trail roughly follows the path that Chief Standing Bear and his Ponca tribe members were forced to walk from their ancestral homelands along the Niobrara River in northern Nebraska to the barren land in the corner of Oklahoma. The Homestead Conservation and Trails Association is a nonprofit entity charged with managing and maintaining the trail. All of our maintenance is funded through donations and grants. The Homestead Cycling Tour's route travels several miles along the CSBT, and we use their trailheads for SAG stops, so we truly appreciate your generosity. Thank you for your consideration. Anyone that makes a minimum donation will receive our new event sticker for FREE!
