CNYC , Butternuts Brewery and BVA invite you to come have some fun and ride your bike on some amazing dirtphalt terrain. This event is co-sponsored by the Butternut Valley Alliance, a community non-profit whose mission is to protect and conserve the environmental qualities, farming, economic development and cultural heritage in the Butternut Creek watershed.

THERE WILL BE NO DAY OF RIDE ENTRY.

Please read everything below. It contains some important and useful information !

Come join us for the 2021 New Lisbon Gravel Grinder! It’ll be a challenging but fun course for all involved. You’ll have the choice of one lap (33 miles ) or 2 laps (64 ) miles. This is not a race. More like a cycling challenge. ( Wait until you climb Manzo Road. ) All NYS traffic laws must be obeyed. Marshals and great directional signage will be provided. The most important things to remember are to have some fun riding your bike and to be safe. Strava KOMS will be throughout the course. If you want a big day on the bike you’ll be starting at noon and doing 2 laps. If you just want a fun challenging ride you’ll start 10 mins after and doing 1 lap. After the ride there will be food provided by The Empire House of Gilbertsville. Beer will be on tap from Ommegang and Butternuts Brewery. Plus we are having live music ! Come join us for a great day of fun!

Entrants will be receiving a free meal with their entry fee. But you must be registered by Sunday, September 27th to get a meal ticket. We have to know quantities by then as this is delicious food that takes time to prepare. Check out the Empire House Menu. We will try and accomodate - feed everyone but this food is being bought and prepped early in the week. In other words if you want some tasty Mediterranean Chicken stew sign up by the 27th !

64 or 33 mile challenging route. Please look at the course profile and consider bike gearing and category appropriately.

Presently this is our route.

Since we are riding seasonal roads the course is subject to change. But bring your climbing legs. A 1 to 1 ratio for climbing steep stuff is suggested....ie 42 x 42. Most of the gravel roads are fairly smooth. You will be riding on some dirt roads that are not maintained and contain some technical sections. 35 mm tires and up. Manzo road is steep and rough. There is a section that is washed out but rideable. A Riders will be doing 2 laps. B Riders 1 lap. To keep the course contained we do have a little bit too much asphalt. But we promise you the dirt road climbs will more than make up for it. Approximately 3100 feet of climbing per lap. ( If bad weather - water causes significant damage to the course we will re-route to a tamer but still tough course. )

First Riders off at Noon. Both A Men and A Women.

2nd Wave of riders off at 12:10 PM. Both B Men and B Women.

Most entrants will get to pick from a cool selection of CNYC entry gifts ! This is being done on the honor system. Please take good guess at your sizing and don't try on a lot of the items.

You must be 21 or older to drink the beer. Plenty of non alcoholic beverages will be available.

Live Music too.

Registration will close 9/0/21. No day of ride entrants.

All riders will be placed and hopefully timed. This ride is an adventure - challenge day on the bike but I'm sure some will want to ride it fast. The course contains some spectacular roads and really nice views. As well as some steep stuff that will make you suffer ! Please be considerate to course marshals, our race official and event staff. We plan to have motos and follow vehicles for each category. As of this moment we plan to have marshals at intersections that cross a lane of traffic. Since this event takes in over 20 intersections all participants must obey all traffic laws. That means stopping at intersections when necessary. Our marshals have no control over motor vehicles. They will have complete control over our riders for everyone's safety. We will try to get riders through every intersection quickly. But safety comes first over speed. If marshals tell you to stop. You must stop.

There will be an approximately 3 hour time limit for the B riders. And about a 4 hour and 30 minute time limit for the A riders. These time limits will not be enforced in terms of taking riders off the course. But after about 4 PM we have to get our race crew off the course and home to their families. Our volunteers make this event safe, fun and possible but can only donate a reasonable amount of their time. Please know your abilities and try to pick your event accordingly. October provides us with some spectacular riding and beautiful Fall colors. But we can't have our marshals on the course for much more than 4 hours. They are volunteers and want to get back in time for some food and drinks too ! :-)

We here at CNYC want a fun and safe day out on the bike for everyone. What could be better ? A great course...riding your bike with your friends.....some tasty beer....good food and live music. All for a good cause ! Proceeds from this year's event will go to Garrattsville FD, BVA and CNYC.
