Show Event Notes Event Notes

For 2015 the Tatanka 100 is undergoing a great deal of change. Don’t worry though we still have a custom made Black Hills Gold ring provided by Riddles Jewelry Goldsmith Rod Foudray for our first ever sub 8 hour finisher! We do think we will be keeping it yet again!

The date has been changed to July 11th and Tatanka 100 joins the Sturgis Center for the Arts fundraiser “BAM” (Bikes, Art, & Music) held in the Sturgis Woodland Park. The finish line venue will be more energetic with live music provide from a different band each hour from noon until 10PM. Art displays, workshops, and children’s activities will also be part of the afternoon show along with many local craft vendor booths. BAM has a history of being a great family friendly event with something of everyone. There is even a 5k/10k trail running race for those who choose to run rather than ride!

The Tatanka 100 will now be a point-to-point race stating at Mount Rushmore and finishing in Sturgis! From the shrine of democracy to the city of riders, racers will test their mettle as they navigate South Dakotas Centennial Trail. For those who are not quite ready to tackle 100 off-road miles there are both 50k and 10k mountain bike options too.

The preregistration packet pickup is  scheduled for Friday night at the Knuckle Brewery in downtown Sturgis. Come get your race number, share a pasta meal with your co-riders and enjoy the some music as provided by the Sturgis Center of the Arts. We are even working up a little contest where the winner will receive a Lauf Fork!

Race day will start early in Sturgis with the shuttle buses loading 100 mile riders at 5am for the trip to Mount Rushmore. 50k riders will load their shuttle at 11:00am for the ride to Piedmont, and 10k riders only have to cross the road to Lions Club Park for their start. All races will finish in the Sturgis City Park and riders will enjoy a post-race BBQ, and live music as they wait for the 5pm awards ceremony.
