For 2015 the Tatanka 100 is undergoing a great deal of change. Don’t worry though we still have a custom made Black Hills Gold ring provided by Riddles Jewelry Goldsmith Rod Foudray for our first ever sub 8 hour finisher! We do think we will be keeping it yet again!
The date has been changed to July 11th and Tatanka 100 joins the Sturgis Center for the Arts fundraiser “BAM” (Bikes, Art, & Music) held in the Sturgis Woodland Park. The finish line venue will be more energetic with live music provide from a different band each hour from noon until 10PM. Art displays, workshops, and children’s activities will also be part of the afternoon show along with many local craft vendor booths. BAM has a history of being a great family friendly event with something of everyone. Racer packet pickup will be in the internationally famous Knuckle Brewery in downtown Strugis.
Tatanka’s course has seen the biggest change of the event. The race is not only a 100 mile event going forward, but now has 100 Kilometer, 50 Kilometer, and 20 Kilometer options. Each course is one loop with no sections being repeated! The addition of the shorter distance options allows us to keep supporting MTB riders of all abilities! The best part of this is our new 100 mile route has more single track!! That not all though, the course will now run counter-clockwise. All these changes have been made to provide a better rider experience and there will be more info available soon. We are still waiting on final Forest Service permit approval so watch for the final course maps soon!
